This week we have a vocabulary challenge. We have been locked out of the classroom and we need to get back in before Miss Stewart realises we have gone! Solve the clues to reveal the 10 digit code to unlock the door.
Things you will need to know:
Homophone: two words that sound the same but are spelt differently and have different meanings eg. hear/here
Adverb: describing the verb eg. quietly walked
Modal verb: the possibility of the verb eg. could walk
Prefix: added to the beginning of a word eg. sub-
Passive voice: when the subject of a sentence has something done to it by someone/something eg. The mouse was being chased by the cat.
Formal language: words you would find in books and information texts eg. capture rather than grab
Parenthesis: also known as brackets
Synonyms: words with the same meaning eg. damp/moist
