Blockley Church of England Primary School values support and expertise from the wider community through the work of volunteers in school. They are a welcome resource in helping to raise children’s achievement whilst complementing the work of the staff in school and can often provide expertise and experience that might otherwise be unavailable in school. All volunteers are placed sensitively and responsibly. We benefit from volunteers through:
- celebration of the diversity of skills, knowledge and expertise within our school and wider community;
- enrichment opportunities within the curriculum through volunteers who advise and support both the staff and pupils;
- providing regular support in the classroom in activities such as reading;
- providing first-hand experience to support specific topics in curriculum areas such as History or RE.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact the school office. The volunteer role will be clearly defined through discussions with the Head Teacher or relevant member of staff. Generally volunteers will be under the supervision of a member of staff. If volunteers are working with pupils in an unsupervised capacity they are required by law to have a DBS Disclosure. Volunteers will be required to read and complete appropriate documentation relating to the safeguarding of pupils.
