Dear Class One,

I hope you had a super week of learning and worked really hard for your Teachers. If you haven’t seen Mr Jones Vlog from Thursday I highly recommend you do, there is a special message just for you!  It would be lovely to hear some of Class 1 Home Learners sending messages using the Vlog.

I had a busy weekend with Eve and Arthur, they have been very active and had plenty of fresh air, we even went on a rainy walk which was lots of fun. Arthur has learnt to climb on everything and Eve practised her hairdressing and make up skills on me.

Last week was jam-packed in Class One, the children (and adults) have adapted to the new routines really well and it was so lovely to hear chattering back in the outdoor area. We hope you managed to do some of your 30 day Nature Tasks, we went on the Bingo Hunt and learnt that lying on your tummy is the best way to spot a Magpie!

Stay safe, alert and go well!

Mr Jones

For your reading comprehension, you have a text about fossils. You will find out about what a fossil is and how they help us to understand what life was like thousands of years ago! If you are confident in your reading comprehension and would like something more challenging then you can go for the 3 star text. However, if you are not quite as confident just yet then go for the 1 star text. If you feel you are somewhere in the middle then opt for the 2 star text.

As part of our recapping of the spellings from this year I thought it would be a nice idea to use the format we use in class. I have explained the spelling rule at the top and then some examples for you to change/adapt according to the rule. Underneath are some ‘clozed’ sentences (these are sentences with words missing – helping us the develop our vocabulary level and understanding/meanings of words.) You can ask an adult to print out the sheet, or if you do not have a printer at home simply copy the sentences into your English book. Don’t forget there are also some activities on Education City. Keep smiling, Mrs. Etheridge.

Thought of the Day

This term we are thinking about the importance of treating others with respect even if we sometimes do not agree with the way they behave or the things they say. We have also been thinking about how we should treat the things that belong to us and to other people respectfully.
• Think of some practical ways that you show respect to each other in your family.
• Often we show respect to someone by the way we speak to them.  What does this mean in practice?
• Do you treat one another’s possessions with respect? What does this mean in practice?
