Class 1 Archive

You made it to the final week of Term 6 and the last week of the school year, all of you deserve a massive clap and a BIG well done! I know it has been a funny old year but as a team we have made it through to the summer holidays, working at home and school you have all kept on learning in a new way and learning skills you probably wouldn’t have in life just yet.

I hope you were all pleased with your Reports and are excited to come back after the summer holidays to start learning again in school with a new group of children. Sharon, Abby and I are all extremely proud of how you have taken each new skill and challenge on board this year and are very sad we don’t get to celebrate this with you at the end of the year  as a class.

The summer holidays are a time to relax, be kind to your siblings and let mum and dad get a bit of a rest from being your teachers whilst enjoying being young and having fun in a safe way.

Seeing as you do have 4 more days of learning please find your time table below.

Year 1 Class 1 13th July Timetable

I want to say a HUGE thank you to all you wonderful parents for keeping in touch throughout this strange time and for all the updates and pictures you have sent, it really has been wonderful we have been able to keep in touch whilst furthering your child’s education.

Have a wonderful summer and we look forward to welcoming you all back in September.

Miss Overton – Short

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and have managed to get some well earned rest and play. There are only two more weeks to go before the end of this school year.  Lots of parents have been asking me if we are sending out reports this year and the simple answer is yes, they will be posted to you at the end of this week.

It is strange to think that normally at this time of year we would be getting ready to have our end of year party and celebrate all your hard work and achievements this year. I want you to know that we are so proud of you all for nearly completing this unusual year and whether you are at home learning or in school for the next two weeks I want you to give everything you have left into completing the work to the best of your ability, as in two weeks time you have 6 weeks of summer holidays to recharge. It is important you do take time in the summer holidays to recharge as in September you will have moved into a new year group, some of you a new class, but the hard work will begin all over again and you will all be in school together.

I hope you have a super week, I am looking forward to seeing some of you on Zoom later this week, if you would like to chat to the children in school please email the class one page and we will set it up for you.

Hello my lovelies,

I hope you are all well, it has been lovely to hear from many of you and to have a special visitor at the gates during break this week. It has been a scorching week, we made our own paddling pools in school on Thursday using a tray each and cold soapy water, it was great fun!

I am missing you all lots and I know some of your class mates are too! It would be really nice if some of you could write a letter to the class and then email it to the class one email address and we will read them in class and write one back to you.

This weekend the weather was a little bit mad but I still made it out for our daily walks, I find these have become essential for helping to keep the mind and body healthy, as well as having quality family time together outside the house.

I know some of you are finding working at home a bit of a struggle now and need some motivation so keep your eyes peeled this week for something special to help you along. I have seen lots of super pictures of projects and rewards you have all been getting, Glastonbury weekends in the garden, trampolines, days off for fantastic work please keep these up and keep sending those pictures in I will always find time to respond to you.

Below are your timetables for the week.

This week the book your work is based on is called Oliver’s Vegetables. there is a mixture of complex patterns, addition and subtraction which builds on last weeks work.

Good Morning,

I hope you all treat your father’s or some one special to a nice meal or a home made card yesterday. We had a lovely day in the sunshine, Arthur and Eve gave their dad a lovely home made gift and a card and I cooked breakfast, which is very rare for me to do as Mr Jones is a far better cook!

I am sending your special email out today, apologises I couldn’t send it Friday I had a very unexpected busy day! As it is the summer and the weather is meant to be lovely this week I would like to take this opportunity to remind you to wear a hat and sun cream, also remember that mid afternoon sun can be hot so find a bit of shade and have some chill time!

Have a super week of learning and remember to keep sending in your work, one of our Year 1’s sends me work every week and its lovely to see the progress they make each week!

Work sheets and answers below

This week your work is based on Zog. I am very excited as it is one of my favourite books. Your will need to use tens frames, as you did last week. It is a good idea if your able to, to chalk or use tape to mark them out on the ground and use physical objects to help your deeper understanding of numbers.

Please continue to use the Oak Academy work set below, we are trying to cover as many genres as possible.

This week you are writing instructions based on books about Engineering.

You are writing Character Descriptions based on Saint George and the Dragon.

“Respect – to get it you must give it”  Anon

Thought of the Day

This term we are thinking about the importance of treating others with respect even if we sometimes do not agree with the way they behave or the things they say. We have also been thinking about how we should treat the things that belong to us and to other people respectfully.
• Think of some practical ways that you show respect to each other in your family.
• Often we show respect to someone by the way we speak to them.  What does this mean in practice?
• Do you treat one another’s possessions with respect? What does this mean in practice?
